1. Marriage. His first wife (Hanna Bruch) went on to marry Benjamin Press. This explains the close ties to the Press family and his wifes children from both her marriages landing up in South Africa.Yudels family from his second marriage also joined them as part of the family trading network that slowly spread across the area.
2. Holiday: Family Visit, Abt 1915, Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa.
Pasport issued in Rietavas on 1 April 1910; came from Sveksna on 25 March 1915 to collect it.
Declared his age correctly as 69 in 1910 on application, although he was at least 74 years old when he travelled.
Came to South Africa to visit his son Albert. He found the Cape outback was not religious, in keeping with his home standards. His son ran a general store at Nieuwoudtville - 250 miles NW of Cape Town. Went back to Lithuania.
Abraham married Hanna BRUCH, daughter of Abel BRUCH and Faiga, before 1870 in Lithuania. The marriage ended in divorce about 1872. (Hanna BRUCH was born on 20 Dec 1848 in Plunge, Telsiai, Kaunas, Lithuania and died in 1921 in Plunge, Telsiai, Kaunas, Lithuania.)
Abraham next married Eta MARKUS before 1870 in Lithuania. The marriage ended in divorce about 1872. (Eta MARKUS was born in 1857 in Lithuania and died in Lithuania.)
